Dear Firefox contributors,

They said browsers were dead. They said open source would never penetrate the mainstream. But you've never cared much for rules, have you? And now we're blazing a trail to 50 million downloads worldwide. As we turn open source into a household word and reassert the supremacy of simplicity, we are making waves—and starting fires.

We've spent long nights in a tiny conference room here in Mountain View trying to figure out how to celebrate this momentous occasion. Should we lower Mitchell, our fearless president, into an erupting volcano? Send her backpacking through the Alps? In the end, we decided we'd rather celebrate by rewarding those who got us here. And that's you.

We have a handful of unique prizes that you won't find anywhere else, and we're asking you to do one simple thing to claim one: impress us. As we drive toward 50 million downloads, do something so cool, so unusual and so spectacular to spread Firefox that we can't help but scurry around the Mozilla Foundation to tell every one. Send a photo of your feat to fifty@spreadfirefox.com.

So what impresses us? Maybe it's convincing your mayor to declare a Firefox holiday (take a picture of the declaration). Or going to the prom dressed as a Firefox (take a picture of your date slapping you). We'll keep a running log of the prize winners and their stories below. The sky's the limit, but the clock's ticking.

Thanks,
Blake Ross Asa Dotzler

I was happy to see the following email in my inbox tonight:

Hi alexjuno!

You may have heard on the grapevine that we planned to
reward our dear Flickr members who bought a Pro Account in
the early days. Well, it's true! And since you're one of
those lovely people, here's a little something to say YOU
ROCK!

1. Double what you paid for!
Your original 1 year pro account has been doubled to
2 years, and your new expiry date is Dec 11, 2006.

2. More capacity!
Now you can upload 2 GB per month.

3. 2 free Pro Accounts to give away to your friends!
This won't be activated for a day or two, but when it
is, you'll see a note on your home page telling you
what to do.

Thank you so much for putting your money where your mouth
is and supporting us, even while we're in beta. Your
generosity and cold, hard cash helped us get where we are
today.

Kind regards,
The Flickreenies.

"Employees used their music libraries to consciously portray an self-image."

I personally just listen to whatever I feel like... sharing with the co-workers isn't enough for me though. That's why I use audioscrobbler, to show off my taste with thousands more :)

A buddy of mine sent me this link tonight, it's probably old but I can't stop laughing. I don't know if it's the hardcore look he gives us at the beginning, his face when trying to get back up or the noise of the chairs off on the side but I love it :)

Out of the 10 listed I'd really appreciate to see:

1) Fix Internet Explorer

2) Smoother Multitasking

3) New display system

Back in October 2004 Search giant Google said that it had acquired Keyhole, a company specializing in Web-based software that allows people to view satellite images from around the globe.

Well, yesterday Google added the satellite technology to its mapping service, in a move to outdo competitors Yahoo, Ask Jeeves and others.

1) Google is once again upping the ante in the Web mail wars, announcing plans to double the storage offered by Gmail to 2GB. The news comes as Yahoo moves to match Google's previous 1GB limit. Google officials also said they will make additional storage increases over time.

2) In the near future, Google hopes to help you with that problem. Using its recently released Google Maps technology, developers at the company have created the Google Ride Finder, a service which allows the user to locate transportation services within a given area.

3) Now Google's faster than ever on Firefox and Mozilla browsers. When you do a search on these browsers, we instruct them to download your top search result in advance, so if you click on it, you'll get to that page even more quickly.
